Frequently Asked Questions
What is the PTO?
PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. At Centerville Elementary School, the PTO is made up of teachers, parents and guardians who volunteer their time for an assortment of big and small events that occur during the school year. Some of these events raise money, and others build school and community spirit, but the main goal of the PTO is to support the school staff and its students as we work together to make our school a better one.
Who can join?
Any parent or guardian of a Centerville student can join the PTO and all are welcome. Our mission is to support both curricular and extra-curricular programming for our children. This is all accomplished through 100% family volunteer efforts. Every little bit helps, so please consider contributing whatever time you can.
How can I get more involved?
Come to a monthly meeting. At meetings, you can find out about upcoming activities and where volunteers are needed. Additionally, at the start of the school year, there will be several events where you can sign up to volunteer for a particular activity. If none of these methods work for you, please feel free to contact any of the PTO Board members to discuss your options.
Why should I get involved?
Our success in achieving our goals and making our family events the best that they can be depends on everyone’s participation and involvement. Together we can do great things for our children, our school and our community. Additionally, there is always plenty to do and we could use the extra hands. Help a little or a lot, there is something for everyone and we appreciate whatever you can give.
